Revising for long periods of time is not an effective way to learn – we recommend revising for 20-30 minutes and then giving yourself a 5-minute break to take a walk and have a stretch. Experiment revising with things like colourful drawings, diagrams, highlighters, colour-code systems and see what works best for you. This is a great way to learn more about your learning habits and also enrich your knowledge in the process.
Physical activity is extremely important and should be kept maintained well throughout this challenging period. Something as simple as a short jog can have an extremely positive impact on your mental health and will leave you feeling fresh and ready to get learning again. Frequent exercise also reduces feelings of tiredness, allowing you to feel productive and on the ball.
Set yourself goals to reach throughout your revision, so that you feel as though you are working towards something and making all the hard work worth it. This can be as simple as having a chocolate bar after completing a topic, or going out with friends after a productive day.
Remember that there are plenty of people in this world who have excelled in their chosen job roles without having stacks of A* grades under their belt. Of course, higher grades will make your journey smooth sailing, but just proving that you have committed to and passed exams shows that you are an excellent individual.
